Fear of enemies’ threats plunges country into desolation

TEHRAN, Apr. 19 (MNA) – Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayat. Khamenei said Wed. that being fearful and anxious of enemies’ threats and affected by hostile treatment of major powers is the start of a country’s decent into desolation.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei received on Wednesday a number of Army commanders and personnel on the occasion of the country’s National Army Day.

The Leader underscored the need for boosting the mental and spiritual preparedness of the Army, adding “security is of great value to a country; the stronger the Armed Forces of a country are, even if it comes with no military moves, the stronger the sense of security will be.”

Ayat. Khamenei maintained that the Islamic Republic establishment and the Iranian nation have many points of strength that easily surpass the points of weakness. He added that one such strong point is the courageous and resilient spirit of the Iranian nation against the hostility and threats of superpowers.

“One technique used by aggressive powers for scaring nations and governments and forcing them into seeing to their illegitimate interests is to level threats against them and exaggerate their own self-importance,” he said.

“The worst situation for a country is when the authorities start to cower before the enemies’ threats, because this will open the door to foreign aggression and invasion,” he added.

The Leader went on to note, “if one wishes to be scared, it is alright, as long as the fear is not extended to be on behalf of the nation, because the Iranian people are courageously standing [against all threats].”

During the meeting, he underscored the necessity of a secure and powerful voting process in the upcoming presidential election on May 19, and warned against the nation’s enemies that always seek to cause disturbances.

“Those who follow western media see how the enemies are trying to disrupt the elections in some way, but the Iranian nation will remain vigilant and wise to these hostile moves and the election will hopefully be held with a high turnout in a secure, passionate and lively atmosphere,” he said.

The Leader further stressed that an election held with such parameters in mind will bring great immunity to the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei then touched upon the significance of economic growth and his continued emphasis on economy in the past three years, adding “the reason why I keep highlighting the importance of economic development is because I have sensed that the enemy is trying to strike a blow against our country from this angle.”

“Today, the economic capacity is a key priority in the country,” he stressed, adding “if officials take heed of enemies’ motives, they will gain more motivation to make efforts for people’s livelihoods.”
